A Second Chance, Chapter III

Chapter III After finishing cooking, he gave me my share and sat down. Then he started telling me about the granny and the place we were at. In his words he said "You see this place is not real. I know what you are thinking, but bare with me and don't talk for a bit. That old woman was a priestess or a goddess, but no one really knows. I got scared when I saw her staring at you, because she can do many things. Things that, we, normal folk can't understand. You see I grew up here when I was a little boy, my grandma used to bring me here in secret from my parents and let me play. We used to go to this place and I would play with random people. They were kind and all of them were pretty . I still don't know if, all of it, is in my imagination or not. I remember this woman with yellow hair she had". At that moment a chill run down my spine and I froze, my breath stopped. He asked me if something was wrong. I brushed it off by saying  "Nah I am ok, somethin

Jerusalem 1099 AD

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain. This is what they taught us back home. This is what God said to his prophet Moses to write down, as His commandment. But what does it truly mean? It's about cursing God, swearing to God? When I was young, I thought like that. I could not understand the full meaning of blasphemy. I learned that with a hideous way. What can you say? I am a young Templar. They filled my mind with "God's will" and "God's Work" and "You shall be the protectors of the Holy Church". It was only soon after when I started to realise the real purpose of the campaing. No God. No actual interest of the Holy Land. Only political games. The fear of the raise of the Turks. The wish to distinquish the Orthodox Church with their "corrupted" Patriarch, who dared to oppose the mighty Catholic Church. Urban was such an arrogant man. He and his collaborators, this monk Peter the Hermit and some Princes and Kings o

The Argive: Gates of Hades, Book I, Chapter II

Chapter II In dark, beautiful times... Nine years passed since king Philip of Macedon, murdered at the wedding of his own daughter. After that, his successor, his son Alexander, became the leader of his kingdom, to carry on the legacy of his father. Since then, the kingdom of Alexander entered a prosperous and thriving era. One could say, a golden era. He put down the rebellions at Panonia, Illyria and Thrace. He made every Greek City State who opposed him, to submit to his rule. He burned to the ground the city of Theba, who challenged his authority. After all that, he turned his eyes on the prolonged enemy of Greeks, the Persian Empire. He called a synod at the city of Corinth, where all the Greeks, except the Lacedemonians, announced Alexander the leader of the campaign against the Persian. Against all odds, Alexander managed to defeat the huge Empire, into three major battles at Granicus river, the plain of Issus and the battle near the village of Gaugamela. He seemed to be

A Second Chance, Chapter II

So, we continued our journey with the train, towards our destination. While we were on the train and going through the vast and different landscapes, I was looking out of  the window, lost in thought. Thinking about my life, how unlucky and depressing it was. Going through the memory lane. From when I was a little boy, up to the age I am now. Filled with screams and pain. As I was thinking and getting more and more depressed, my friend snored at that moment. You know when something is bugging you and you make that weird scratching sniffing noise. I looked at him and I remembered the happy moments I had. The very few and treasured memories I    actually had. When I was a kid and  got my favourite toy from the advertisements in the television. I still remember it, it was this big action figure that could move and make noises. Pretty simple but for a kid at that age, it was something amazing. And then I had my friend and our lovely walks in the forest and that little paradise.

A Second Chance, Chapter I

A Second Chance Life is no more than a game of shadows and duty. I was a kid back then i didn’t know much. I am Mathew Baker, grew up in the outskirts of a small town. I went to school, had no particular talents, awards or and big achievements in my life. One day though everything changed for me. So how did it start you might wonder. Well it is no big surprise that the family I grew up with, was, let’s say not the best one. So, the one thing I liked to do and did best, was wondering for hours in the nearby forest. I used to spend lot of time there, visiting my secret spots that I really loved. My own little paradise. The other thing I loved to do, was play games. Big surprise isn’t it. I spent most of my life in that box than I did with my family. I used to play games and watch series and movies. I was so fascinated by them, that I dreamt of entering these worlds, being part of them and living the story as the main protagonist. It was awesome. Life though was not that
